Evaluation

Evaluating Candidates

We will assist the search committee in developing selection criteria that are tied directly to the position description. Selection criteria are used to create a rating sheet that is used in evaluating each candidate's qualifications.

We will work in partnership with the committee during the initial screening of all candidates. The consultant will personally read all candidate files and assist the committee in evaluating the candidate pool, treating all candidates equally and evaluating them by the same standards and methods. Committee members are invited to participate in the initial screening and evaluation. Every candidate who is recommended by the consultant will have been thoroughly screened based on the criteria set out by the committee.

Interviewing and Referencing

We will work directly with the search committee to conduct preliminary candidate interviews. Usually, six to twelve candidates are invited for interviews with the search committee at a neutral site, such as an airport hotel, with the consultant acting as the coordinator. We will provide logistical support in the organization, scheduling and management of the interviews.

Following the preliminary interviews, the candidate pool is further narrowed to a small number of semi-finalists, usually 4-6 candidates, at which time we will work collaboratively with the committee to conduct reference checks on the remaining candidates, as well as thorough background checks.

We arrange, through an outside contractor, for additional background information to be gathered for finalists, including verification of degrees, review of credit history, criminal records, and negative press checks.
